Our Mission - Care 4 My Lambs, a Non-Profit Public Charity

Care 4 My Lambs is a non-profit charitable organization, headquartered in Pleasanton, California.  Our mission is to provide resources to people in need or who are in impoverished situations, particularly those who are in transitional situations, who are trying to improve their lives.  We do this by providing resources, such as in-kind donations, limited financial assistance, and information, to those in need of assistance, including; food and shelter, financial and educational aid, medical or dental assistance, pregnancy counseling and assistance, safety from abusive relationships, and help with alcohol and substance abuse.

Our local focus is on helping people who want to improve their lives to help themselves, by providing assistance that will result in a sustained improvement in their lives or situations.  Although sustained improvement is our goal, we also help people in crisis situations when we have the resources to do so.

Our web site provides information on the many local resources that are already available through other community programs; meals and food pantries, shelters, rape-crisis counseling, financial aid, legal aid, educational aid, medical assistance, pregnancy counseling, alcohol and substance abuse recovery, and help for victims of domestic violence.  These pages are designed to be printed, so that you can also help a friend in need.

The areas we serve locally include the Tri Valley communities of Pleasanton, Livermore, and Dublin, California as well as the surrounding local communities.  We focus on these areas because this is where we can reach out and work directly with those in need, to better understand their needs and provide help as we are able.  Internationally, we provide support to Christian outreach centers in Punta Gorda Belize and Ensenada Mexico.

Nationally and internationally, we provide support to Christian outreach activities; including outreach centers in Punta Gorda Belize and Ensenada Mexico, and Christian radio ministries that broadcast both nationally and internationally.

Care 4 My Lambs, Inc. is a 501(c)3 public charity recognized by the Internal Revenue Service, and qualified to grant receipts for tax-deductible donations.

Our Programs

Aid for Families, Individuals, and Young Adults
We help people in need in our local community.  First we try to direct clients to the many resources that are already available through other local programs via our website (e.g. food banks, meal kitchens, medical centers, educational assistance, domestic violence shelters).  However, there are many people who are hard to reach, or who do not quality for these types of local assistance.  In some cases, many of the needed items are not available from the local programs.  In these cases we may be able to provide them with cash or gift cards to purchase the needed items.  For example, we help:

  • Single mothers, who often have multiple jobs, who want to go to school but don't otherwise qualify for financial aid

  • 18 - 20 year olds, who come from broken homes and have no place to live, sleeping on their friend's couches and often living off their friend's grace (or the grace of their friend's parents)

  • Recent High school graduates who would like to continue their education, but due to their situation, lack the resources to pay for tuition, books, or transportation

  • The elderly, who sometimes face the choice of eating or visiting the doctor, for lack of a tank of gas

  • People lacking basic resources to improve their lives, such as school books and supplies, or bus passes for transportation to and from school

  • People who are in crisis situations needing basic items, such as shoes for their children, baby supplies, toiletries, paper products, or a roof over their head for a night.

These are just a few examples of the people we help. Although many of them have roofs over their heads, they may be sharing a one bedroom apartment with several others, or living in a rented garage, or perhaps borrowing someone's couch or sleeping in their car.

How you can help: Donate food, money, or cars and trucks.  For a more detailed list of our needs, please see our How "How You Can Help" page, or Contact Us.

Grants for Graduates of Domestic Violence Shelters
These grants are for women who are "graduating" from Tri-Valley Haven or Shepherds Gate homeless and domestic violence shelters in Livermore, California.  These grants are used to buy items the women need to be successful in their new lives.  Although they receive a significant amount of assistance from the shelters, they often need equipment and supplies for their new jobs.  For example, they may need hairdressing equipment and supplies, new clothes or uniforms, new shoes, or other items that fall into the "tools and supplies" category.  In the past we have been able to provide eye glasses, computers, and school books. We work directly with the women's shelters to identify needy and qualified candidates.

The "hill" in EnsenadaMexico Missions
In the border areas of Tijuana, Tecate, and Ensenada there are very impoverished communities. These communities have all the same problems that we face in the US; alcoholism, drug addictions, single-parent families, and domestic violence, but also extreme poverty. Working closely with Valley Community Church of Pleasanton, California, we provide support to an impoverished community in the hills above Ensenada. In this community, we also provide support to a children's center called Casa de Pan, a place where children in grades K'6 are able to stay in safety until their parents return from work, and where they receive a good meal, love and attention, and help with their homework. With your generous support we will continue to support these projects, aiding our neighbors to the south. You can read more on the local missionaries' publication The Garcia Gazette.  The pastors in this small community are also reaching out to our Cuban cousins doing discipleship training with Discipleship Training International.

Belize KidBelize Missions: We provide ongoing support to "Da Wata Fountin'" in Punta Gorda, Toledo, Belize. This project began as a small outreach to the many Belizeans who spend their nights on Front Street involved in prostitution, drugs, and alcohol abuse.  Da Wata Fountin' serves as a Christian outreach to Belizeans who have questions about the forgiving God, and who want to find out more about the grace of Jesus Christ.  See Da Wata Fountin Video (28 MB).

We also provide mission support to the Bunk's, a mission team supporting the Machaca Outreach Center in Belize.  They are currently trying to raise enough support to return to full time ministry in Belize, Central America.
